The things we learn over pancakes

So, I was having breakfast at a restaurant this morning when I overheard two ladies talking over spiritual matters at the table behind me.  Now before I get into the “meat” of the story, let me preface it by letting you know that eavesdropping isn’t commonplace for me, but the reason for this overhearance is two fold:  they were talking extremely loud, and I believe God wanted me to hear what they were saying.

They were discussing an obvious mutual friend whom had apparently prayed for something.  The first lady (we will call her Jane for the sake of the story) thought whatever the friend prayed for was silly….Jane said, “Doesn’t she know that God has other things on His mind?  I mean really, He has a world to run…”  The second lady (let’s call her Doe because..its fun) agreed and they both went on the tear down this “friend” with unkind words.  Both Jane and Doe felt that praying for things small and insignifigant were not only a waste of time for the one praying but an insult that God would want to take time out of His busy day to answer…..of course, this got me thinking.

First of all, God doesn’t measure time in days, and time is of no essence to Him so we can’t assume that He stops anything.  Next, who are we to jugde what is signifigant in the lives of others?  We are excused from the daunting task of judging.  Lastly, and this is the big reason, God cares.  God created us for His pleasure and all our cares are His cares. Friends, whatever is going on in your life, your Daddy cares….more than you can even imagine.  He is passionately in love with every part of you and wants nothing more than you to cry out to Him for every need that you have.  Time doen’t allow me to give you scripture references for what I just wrote, but if you need proof, let me know, I will get them to…. if you need proof now of how much He loves you, take a look at the book of John.

My heart hurts today for the friend Jane and Doe ripped apart over breakfast, like it was nothing.  I pray that this lady continues to seek God in all her needs, and that these two don’t discourage her.  I also pray she gets some better friends. I also want you guys to know that what I witnessed today was the mentality of a dying world, listening to the lies of the enemy and believing them.  What an awesome responsibility we have as messengers of the gospel to dispute and drive this way of thinking back to the hell of wence it came. The world needs to know that our God is not only big enough, but desires to hear all about what paines His children.  Our God is bigger than the god of this world, but how will they know if they aren’t told…or better yet shown?

Father God, make me small…smaller daily so that your Light will shine through and make a difference in the little bit of world you have entrusted me with…..John 3:30  Amen
