True, this is a day late, but hey..creativity was never meant to be rushed. So without further ado…ladies, here is your poem:
Ode to Mighty One
Up to the table they creep, in a wide array of colors
Beckoning all to gather around, this game unlike all the others
The cards get shuffled, passed around in groups of seven
I wonder if they will have this game in heaven?
The colors are sorted, the minds are racing
The rookie at the table has no idea what they are facing
Seems perfectly harmless to the spectator gazing on
But we all know, nothing can stop this PHENOMENON
Here we go, a card has been lead
Whats that? Someone is slapping their forehead!
Must have been an eight, the color of blue
The rookie was the last to slap, and they know what to do
On and on we go, sometimes for hours
Who knew this game would have so much power?
My head feels WOBBLY after all the slapping
But wait, the rookie won a hand and the people are clapping
I’m laughing so hard and feeling delirious
But one grumpy man is being CANTANKEROUS
The rain is falling, the storm is here
But inside Starbucks, we can do nothing but cheer
The night draws to a close, laughing so hard i’m cryin
And we made a new friend..his name is Brian
The rookie is hooked, the cards sucked her in
Very soon, Mighty One, we will meet again
Until then, I will count the days
Close at hand, in my car, the UNO deck stays
Before I go, this poet must tell the nations
Did you know nutmeg causes hallucinations?

that is hilarious!!! masterfully written—who else could have incorporated those words and captured the essence that is Power Uno. And now nutmeg has been exposed to the world for what it truly is….some people just might call you a hero.
