For Christey

One of my dear friends from seminary, Christey Miller, was killed last night in a car accident.

The e-mail came to me today, and I think I must have read it 6 times before it really sank in. She and my buddy Jamie were the first friends I made at SWBTS. Christey was a missionary too, and had just came from a 2 year assignment like me. She was pursuing the MA in Children’s ministry degree. Originally she was from Oklahoma, but after she graduated, she got a job as a the minister of children in a big church in Troy, IL. Christey loved God and she loved helping people. Actually, I just looked at some pics that she uploaded to Facebook just yesterday morning of her working with Habitat for Humanity…it was her first time to build a house and she looked like she was having a blast. Little did she know, that her house in heaven was already built and that she would be occupying it that very night.

Christey had just gotten back from Oklahoma days ago, so I am very glad her family got a chance to spend some time with her before yesterday. God, thank you for blessing them with those precious last memories.

Christey, the tears I shed for you are not in vain…you, and your love for God’s people will be missed. Have fun with Jesus…tell my grandparents hi for me, and save me the mansion next door so that you, Jamie and me can be neighbors again. Good-bye sister. Much love.

  • I am a member a bethel and I just don’t understand of all people why Christie had to die. Especially at such a young age with the circumstances given. It’s a huge wake up call, having someone you see so often, living life day by day, and suddenly not having them anymore.

It is my hope that God uses this as a wake up call for others, that this brings glory to his name, and that our church recovers from this horrible tragedy. The greatest news is that Christie is in Heaven right now with God rejoicing.

I am so sorry for your loss. I was not as close to Christey as I would like to had been, but I will pray for you.

    God Bless,
    Corey

  • I’m sorry to learn about your friend Christey. I’m glad to hear that she’s home, though.

  • Christey was a hoot to be around. We laughed our heads off when I would drive her to the court to deliver paperwork for the law office. We always had a good time. I was shocked to hear of her passing today. See ya later Christey.. not soon enough for me but the blink of an eye for you.

  • Hello,
Please accept my sympathy for the loss of your dear friend. I cannot locate your email address on this blog, so I will ask you here: How do I locate Christey’s FaceBook page? Did she have a MySpace page also? Thanks for any info you can give me.

  • Christey was a friend of mine for as long as I can remember and later in life became my sister-in-law. I like to remember all the fun times. Playing tea party under her mom’s quilt, draped over the clothes line as kids. Eating great “tex-mex” at Ted, Rosa’s, On The Boarder… Watching movies… Just talking. She could always make me laugh. I’ll be praying for you in your loss. We share a great friend.

  • I’ve known Christey since she was born, both physically and spiritually. She was not only my niece, but also a beautiful, wonderful, talented, loving person who lived each day to the fullest. There was nothing like sitting with her, watching OU and OSU play football, then rooting for OSU. Talk about a roar!! She kept us in stitches! She dearly loved serving the Lord at BBC Troy, France, building houses or whatever. You can bet she’s participating in Heaven’s music ! Can you imagine Christmas music there?!
I share your loss of Christey, but for whatever reason, God called her home to serve him there and she’s doing that with all she is.
