This little light of mine

The church service today was very inspiring.  It was all about our purpose as Christians.  Not the typical “we are created to worship God” kind of sermon.  In my opinion, too many preachers are consumed with this message and they miss the practicality of the whole thing…the “how to” part.  Many Christians believe that worship is singing, and that’s where it ends…not so….We are in fact created to worship God; that, I whole heartily agree with, but how can we do this?  What does it look like in a practical sense?  And, is it different for everybody?

We worship God by bringing the world to the foot of the cross.  We share Jesus with others.  This is the ultimate worship to God, because it is telling Him that we believe and we want others to believe.  The sermon today was all about missions and the importance of telling others.  About how our denomination is the largest in the world, and how big our missions organizations are.  But the thing that got to my heart the most is the responsibility I have as a free American, a Southern Baptist, one who is called to missions, and most of all..a Christian.  My responsibility is great, and so is yours.

In less than 24 hours, I will be heading back to Houston.  I am doing this because God has said to.  Every day that I have been home (and the days prior to coming home) I have asked God if I could stay.  He still says no.  As a matter of fact, I don’t see myself leaving there for a long time.  I know its the best thing for me, and my Kingdom work is there, so I won’t argue or grumble…The reality is, we can shine our lights and be missional wherever we are….God just happens to want me shining mine in Texas.  And I will because He knows best.

I guess the whole point of me writing this today is to stress the importance of sharing Christ with a dying world. Its why we live.  Its what we were created to do.  Its how we worship.  And for Christians, it should be how we roll.

Peace out from the Bluegrass State…
