Today after work, I stopped at a gas station. As I was walking in, there was a man coming up on my right side, but I was clearly going to reach the door before he was. He all but runs in order to get there first so that he could get the door for me. I smiled. He smiled. It felt really nice. I wish I could tell his mother that she did a good job.
Tonight, I was craving seafood, so I stopped at this really happening place. In order to get take out, you have to go to the bar. UT just happened to be playing on the big screen and the place was packed. I stepped to the end of the bar, placed my order and waited, trying my best to stay out of the way. Shortly I noticed a guy standing near me and he had a beer in his hand. I could feel him looking at me, and it was apparent that he wanted to make eye contact…to be honest, I kinda got a kick out of not looking, just wondering how long he would stand there. Well, he asks the bartender for a shot of tequila, and she pours his drink. He looks at me ( I could see all this from the corner of my eye) and downs it, chasing it with his beer. He then asks the bartender how much his tab is. She answers “$20″. He proceeds to pull out a wad of money, and ‘conveniently’ drops a $100 bill and it lands right under me…thus making the boy bend down and brush up against my leg. I decide to give him a break and look at him, only to see one of those ” I can get any girl I want, you should feel lucky” smiles. I of course smile back but inside I am laughing my head off because boy is at least 10 years my junior. I turn to look back at the UT game, clearly sending the “yeah, right” vibe…..he finally left.
What made me sad was that he was driving having consumed all that alcohol and that back in the day, I would have boasted about attracting someone that fine. That so isn’t me anymore and I owe it all to Jesus Christ.
I have always known that my man will not be found in a bar; that is unless he is evangelizing. He will not consume large quantities of anything in order to get my attention. He will not flash money or material objects in my path in order to win my affection.
He will be sold out to Jesus, making Him the head of our household. Christ will be first in his life and I will be second. And he will open the door for me
Peace and have a good weekend!
