Unfortunately something else happened that is very rare, but tragic none the less. The second place winner, a filly named Eight Belles fell as she was crossing the finish line, throwing the jockey. Fortunately he was ok, but she was not. She had to be put down on the track. This is so tragic and definitely one of the downfalls of horse racing…
Im sad.
