I like to flow with change, basically because I can't really stop it. I've looked at these devices and have tried to read books online and to be honest...it lacks 'flavor'. Like you, I love the cup of coffee and cuddling with a new book. I love the smell. I love the sound of the pages turning. I like to be able to write in the book if I want to. I love the sound of the binding cracking as you're breaking into a new read. I don't think I can ever give up my books and frankly, they seem to be the one medium in publishing that isn't fading...and I use to work at a publishing company. Try as we did, we could just never outsell the books with audio books or other such forms. Great post and thanks for sharing.

I hope books are around for a long time! I can't get use to the idea of reading from a Kindle.
Hey, can I borrow The Hungry Games? I've been wanting to read it!
I have some books for you at my house!!!

i don't think we'll ever be completely paperless... i still print out papers or designs i'm working on... its just too easy and natural to write / draw compared to typing and mousing. it will be a LONG time before it ever feels the same.

OK, my parents have a kindle and I totally agree. It is so sad! I love the satisfaction in having my bookshelf full of my favorites. I love lending them out, so they may challenge and change people's lives as they did your own. You can't dog-ear pages on a computer or write little notes in the margins that make no sense to anyone but you. It's such a shame.
