I wonder…when the members of the metal band Korn were trying to think of a good name for their band, could they not do any better than….Korn? Did they momentarily forget how much coolness and stigma comes with the name of your band?? I envision it going down something like this:

SCENE: Somebody’s garage, dimly lit, with some Alice Cooper playing in the background. Beer cans littering the floor, and a thick cigarette fog (or is it cigarettes??) hovering overhead. All five band members are sitting around, two on an old couch, and the other three on folding chairs. They are talking about what to call themselves. Their mood is somber, and Jonathan is lovingly playing his guitar along with Alice….

David – “OK guys, we have to come up with a name..tonight..now several have been thrown out there; potato, creamed corn, the sweet peas, the black eyed peas…”

Brian – ” Dude, the black eyed peas have already been taken”

David – “OK, how about creamed corn?”

Jonathan – “Since I am the co-founder of the group, I think I should have a say in this…lets just call ourselves corn! But, we can be unique and change the “c” to a “k” “

The rest of the band – “Sounds great…Korn it is”

James – ” Hey guys, I’m hungry..anybody wanna go to Luby’s?”

EXIT SCENE

I was going to blog tonight about small group and the Bible study, but between all their illnesses and papers/projects due, we decided to take a couple of weeks off and re-group after Thanksgiving. So, my thoughts on James 4:14 will have to wait.

By the way, no, I don’t listen to Korn, and yes, I did wonder today why in the world they chose that name… but I digress.
